Save Money on Household cleaners

Dawn baking soda an vinegar

Simple household items can save you money

We all need to save money. Household cleaners are the supermarkets are not cheap.

The supermarkets dedicate a whole aisle to cleaning products available to clean all different areas of the house.  You can buy a separate cleaner for everything. One for the shower, one for the tub, one for tile floor, one for wood floor…oven cleaners, dishwasher cleaners, stainless steel cleaner, waste disposal cleaners. all promising quick results with the minimum effort. I guess you try these products and like me you store them with many others under the sink!!

Using simple household products in combination is much cheaper and kinder to you and the environment.

To  make  basic household cleaners all you need is:

1) White vinegar.

2) Baking Soda.

3) Lemon oil.

4) Dawn Dish soap.

For soap scum in the shower fill a spray bottle with vinegar and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Fill the bottle with Dawn dish soap and shake well. Spray the shower floor and walls and leave for 10 minutes. Wipe and rinse. If the soap scum is heavy use a scotch-brite  or a razor blade. Rinse and repeat if needed. You can also use this on shower doors. Spray and leave. Rinse and wipe clean. finish with vinegar and water to give the glass a shine.

To clean stainless steel in the kitchen simply spray with white vinegar and wipe with the grain of the surface to get rid of dirt and grease. Then use lemon oil sparingly on a cloth, again wiping with the grain to give a shiny finish. If you don’t have lemon oil then olive oil will work, just won’t smell as nice!!!…..remember use sparingly!
