As the hot and humid days of the summer start winding down, the Florida snowbirds start migrating south. People who live seasonally here in Florida begin to arrive in mid-October. This migration lasts all the way through January, the coldest month in much of the country.
The snowbirds is an affectionate therm used to describe our mostly elderly residents who have retired and enjoy the blessings of being able to escape the chill of their primary residences and enjoy the mild warm winters here in Florida.
Snowbirds come from all over the United States and Canada. Most of them come from the north East. The largest number come from New York, followed by Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvanian, and Canada. They stay on average for about 5 months and then head back home.
This migratory tradition has been going on for a long time. So, why is Florida so popular? First, there are lot’s of elderly people here in Florida, and there are many businesses that cater to Snowbirds. Snowbirds here in Florida, have access to excellent medical care, and lot’s of fun activities, not least of which is golfing.
Florida, accommodates all different lifestyles and budgets. You can have, if you can afford it, a large estate on the waterfront, of a trailer in one of the many trailer parks. Lot’s of fun and activities for everyone.
Nothern Pinellas County is an extremely popular destination for Snowbirds because of its low cost and variety of activities and services. As a part of the Tampa Bay Area, North Pinellas County has no shortage of recreational activities, entertainment, and health services. These are some of the reasons why it is so attractive to seasonal visitors. This area in not a low-cost swampland, but a thriving metropolitan area.
As you may have guessed, may of our clients are Snowbirds.
